The More You Know June 2015 – And beyond.

Dear Traumateers,

Marines: Hey! So, I stopped doing these recaps of our recaps because our recapping has been a little bit spotty. Plus, with so much more on my plate, I just always figured the time I put into one of these could go to catching up on one of the million things I’m behind on.

Anyway, TMYK is also where we communicate site-announcements, and I’ve got a quite a few of them! So more than anything else, this is a mid-year catch-up kind of thing. We had a lot of plans at the beginning of this year that didn’t really happen, so it seems right to take a moment and kind of redirect things, put a few things out of their misery and even announce some new things we can hopefully produce with more consistency. Let’s count them out:

1- Grey premiered on Snark Squad in June! EL James released the first book as told by Christian Grey and as the masochists humble servants of the Internet that we are, we decided to recap it. These will be going up on Tuesdays from now until we finish it all up. Hope to see you in the comments with your love, support, and promise of imaginary booze.

2- Gotham is no longer. It was our intention to properly wrap up the first season with a post and announce this there, but what we found is that the longer we put it off, the less we cared. Gotham was riddled (ha ha) with issues, from a lack of central message (seriously, what’s the point of that show?) to terrible writing to questionable acting. We muscled through the end of the first season and that’s it. There will be no more. Feel free to watch season 2 when it starts. But us?

3- How to Get Away With Murder recaps are also cancelled. Our intention was to finish the first season of this too, but we put it off for too long and now there are just other things that are more important and that we actually want to do. Finishing up this one season just to not watch season 2? Yeah that’s weird and just not high on our priority list. We’d rather move on.

4- Fall TV will be upon us before we know it. And even though I just announced that we won’t be carrying on with the two shows we picked last year, we’d like to try the Fall TV poll again! It’s too early yet for many more details, but that’s just something to look forward to. Come fall, our TV watching fate will be in your hands again.

5- Buffy recaps premiered on Snark Squad in July of 2012! To celebrate the three-year anniversary, we will be rewatching season one of Buffy alone-together. We’ll officially be starting the rewatch on Monday, July 6, after the holiday. Basically, you have all of July to watch the season at your own pace. We’ll be using Twitter to chat about it and live-Tweet our rewatching feels using the hashtag #snarkyrewatch. You can also tag it with the episode number you are Tweeting about.

I’m actually really excited to revisit the season despite the multitude of feelings the later seasons gave me. I hope you all will join me!

6- #snarkathon next month will land on July 4th. We know that’s a time when everyone likes to go outside and play, but Sweeney and I will be in the same city (!) so we decided to just keep it and hope someone will join us. We’ll be watching Independence Day and will be pressing play at 4pm GMT.

We’re working out the schedule for the remaining months of #snarkathon and we’ll let you know when we have that all settled.

7- Veronica Mars and Dollhouse are on an indefinite hiatus. As you probably noticed, Sweeney has taken a big step back with her recapping, but these are two shows she really wants to keep. We’re hoping to have them back for the fall, but we also realize that we were hoping to have them back in April. We’re being realistic about these and just saying, “we’ll call you.”

8- Game of Thrones and Orphan Black will continue as they have been, meaning we’ll finish them off over the summer. The plan was to keep them real time, but we couldn’t, so we’ll just work on these slowly but surely.

9- We will be adding a new show to the line-up this summer. Alex will be joining me on these recaps and basically, we’re making it a #SummerofSherlock. That’s right, Alex and I will be recapping the itty-bity Sherlock seasons this summer and we’re really excited. I’m mostly excited to talk about not understanding Benedict Cumberbatch’s face.

10- As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we’ve made Segue Magic a more interactive thing. Each month we are posting our topics on this Goodreads group and inviting people to offer their answers, either by blog or vlog post, and share them with us on Saturdays. It’s been a ton of fun so far and it would be amazing if more people decided to join.

11- The OC is chugging along as well, but I need more volunteers to help me finish off the remaining episodes! Even if you are kind of MEH on The OC, consider trying it out anyway because it’s fun and it helps us and could open the door for more guest posts. Let me know in comments if you are willing to recap a single episode and I’ll collect your contact information.

12- I’ll be at Vidcon at the end of July! If any of you are planning on attending, please let me know as meeting Traumateers is the best thing ever.

Everything I didn’t mention will just continue as is, including Charmed, Supernatural, Doctor Who, Pretty Little Liars and Dawson’s Creek.

I believe that’s it for now. If you have any questions about a project, please let me know in the comments. We have a couple of things planned for later on in the year that are really too early to say much about, but just know I’m planning an October-thing I’m just way too excited about. The OC will be done by that time and we’ll be picking up a new show to community recap.

Stay tuned.

Thank you so much for sticking with us during this super rocky year. It feels like sometimes we’re keeping all this chugging along through sheer force of will. Would that I could quit my job and recap ALL THE THINGS, my friends.

For now, though, here’s where we’re at and where we’re going. Thank you again and see you in the comments!
