Snark Squad Pod #056 – The Good Place

Previously: We talked to our friend Jess about bizarre reality shows & romance novels.

Sweeney: Back when we first made a spreadsheet for the podcast (longtime readers of the blog may recall hearing of the Spreadsheet of Dreams, where we document all of our far flung ideas and wishes for the sit, so of course the podcast got a spreadsheet too) one of my earliest entries was NBC’s The Good Place. There it sat, dear readers, waiting for its time to come.

Then, recently, a series of happy coincidences came together: we were filling holes in the schedule that happened to align with the season 3 finale, and we were trying to get Jenny Trout back on the podcast and she jumped at the chance to talk about something fun. (She, like us, has a brand that involves spending a lot of time dissecting shit she hates.)

When my time I actually came, though, I’ll be honest and say that most of what I had to say was “ISN’T THIS SHOW GREAT” but oh man was it fun to talk to these two smart ladies about WHY this show is so great. From creator Mike Schur (Parks & Rec, Brooklyn 99), this show is a half hour sitcom starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson that takes place in the afterlife. It’s a journey.

Jenny, for those of you who don’t know, is a novelist, blogger, and Twitter gem. You can find her snarky recaps as well as information about her books on her website jennytrout.com
