Cooler Than Homework #005 – Zenon & Other Space Stories

Previously: We were charmed by Halloweentown, and shared some of our Halloween costumes and traditions.

Sweeney: I am having so much fun with this project and will continue to be excited about each episode but I have to confess that this is the episode I have been waiting for. It’s a little early to have that moment, I know, but I don’t care. I love this movie. ZOOM. ZOOM. ZOOM.

It’s a good thing I loved this movie so much because we had to record this one twice. Oops. Mari’s audio recorder decided it didn’t feel like saving the file correctly and so our first attempt was lost. Due to some editing (and pickup) magic, we were able to salvage two segments (including, most importantly, Ceri’s plot guess) but if you notice that Mari is oddly silent and without reaction to Ceri’s plot guess, this is why. She had thoughts, but those thoughts are now a secret, known only to us.

As an added misfortune, one member of our party was a little less charmed by this movie. (To be clear, we all thought it was fun, but someone dared to blaspheme and rank it below both Brink! and HALLOWEENTOWN? which is a rudeness I will never forgive.)  Find out who it was in our latest episode, plus hear some of our other favorite stories that take place in space:

Notes:

  • Our first Firefly recap
  • Jewel Staite as Catalina:
  • It also occurs to me that Matt forgot to re-mention Star Wars in TAKE TWO of this conversation, but let the record show that on first record Matt was like “well obviously Star Wars, duh” and it should be noted that it was so obvious as to basically go unsaid. Until now when I am saying it anyway, just in case.
