Fate: The Winx Saga S01 E04 – Mandatory, but Optional

Previously: Sky saved his demon daddy’s life.

Marines: It’s an eerie night at Alfea, which we know because of the establishing shot of the eerie night, and also because the Soundtrack Man is playing his most eerie strings.

In the Headmistress’s office, Dowling is telling Silva and Harvey that she searched Callum’s desk and found a jar with “nettle amalgam.”

Paige: IDK if it’s because it’s been so long, or if it’s the newfound health, but Silva’s looking good in this scene. Damn, Demon Daddy.

Jess:  He just keeps getting better and better.

Mari: Harvey helpfully tells us that someone would’ve probably used the nettle amalgam to access Dowling’s secret passageway, even though it wouldn’t work. Silva asks if she’s sure Callum tried to break into the undercroft. Dowling says someone did, and Callum is missing, which makes him the prime suspect. But! Nettle amalgam is ancient fairy knowledge and Callum was a normie, so it appears he had help. Harvey has set up like a magical smudger that will tell them what kind of magic was used. Smoke fills the area around the secret passageway until there is a clear outline of where Callum’s dead body was.

Jess: Show us where all the dead bodies are!

Mari: They should definitely do a regular dead body scan.

Dowling says at least they know what happened to Callum, and Silva gravely adds that there is a murderer in their school.

Paige: A murderer that is obviously a child because there’s no other adults here.

Jess: Wow, that’s so morbid but so true.

Mari: It’s also hilarious.

Cut to said murderer, Beatrix, staring at her phone. Riv asks what she’s obsessing over and we see that she’s looking at Bloom’s Fairy-stagram with murder eyes. She says it’s Riv’s fault for spreading the rumor that she’s a changeling, making her the most interesting person at school right now. Riv says it will pass, but Beatrix won’t stop giving her phone murder eyes. Riv asks if this is like one of those creepy movies and Beatrix is going to take over Bloom’s life and wear her skin. Beatrix says of course not, but only because she has better skin. Riv is not bothered by this at all. In fact, this is a perfect segue for him into sexy times.

Jess: I know it’s wrong, but he’s so funny sometimes.

Paige: Nothing turns him on like a little internet stalking, I guess.

Mari: And on that note: PSYCHEDELIC WINGS.

After the title credits, Bloom walks through the cafeteria and all the teens are doing that TV/movie thing where they all openly stare and whisper about her, but sometimes get loud enough that she can hear them say things like “that girl” and “changeling” and “is she the one?”

Bloom keeps walking until she’s in Dowling’s office. Aisha has taken over for Callum as her new assistant. Bloom fills us in on the fact that she was the one that suggested Aisha volunteer for the job so she could snoop through files and find answers. She also, though, calls Aisha a suck up and I think this is supposed to be friendly banter, but if I were Aisha, I would feel real tempted to punch Bloom in the face.

Jess: This is why Bloom had no friends prior to coming here and being forced to make friends in her dorm.

Paige: There are truly no redeemable qualities about Bloom for me at this point.

Mari: Somehow, Aisha does not punch Bloom in the face, and shares that the files she’s gone through so far date back to the beginning of Dowling’s term as Headmistress. Everything else must be archived elsewhere. Bloom says or maybe it’s been shredded because Dowling loves withholding information.

Jess: Bitter much?!

Mari: Aisha promises to keep looking for information about Rosalind, since she has to read through all the files anyway. She also thanks Bloom for bringing her breakfast, even though she knows Bloom is using it as an excuse not to eat in the “canteen.” Bloom plays it off like she doesn’t care that everyone is whispering about her being a changeling, since it’s not the weirdest thing about her. Aisha jokingly agrees, saying no one else knows how bad she snores.

Musa pops in and asks if Bloom is still pretending the gossip doesn’t bother her. (See this is cute friend banter.) Bloom asks if she’s still pretending she’s not dating her roommate’s brother. (Delivered a bit too aggressively. BLOOM. CHILL.) (P: Bloom’s the friend that always kills the vibe.) Terra pops in next and asks who is pretending what now? Unless they are talking about Stella pretending she’s okay with being outshined by her mother all day. Musa jokes that Terra could be a little less happy about that, but Terra is like “can I?” Bloom smiles awkwardly and says that they don’t all have to rearrange their breakfast plans to eat with her like she’s a loser. She’s totally fine. In fact, she’s going to go work on her paper before the assembly with the Queen. Bloom leaves, and Musa uses her feelings magic to make sure everyone is aware Bloom is definitely not fine.

Beatrix and Riv are telling Zane that Changelings are a way for pissed off fairies to get revenge on the First World: swap a human baby for a fairy baby, wait for them to grow up and wreak havoc. From where they are standing upstairs, Dane spots Terra walking by. He tells Beatrix and Riv he’ll see them at the assembly and takes off. Riv and Beatrix laugh at him as he goes. Riv doesn’t know if it’s more pathetic that he thinks Terra will forgive him for his Fairy-stragram video or that he believes all the bullshit Beatrix just told him about Changelings. Beatrix says it isn’t all bullshit. Changelings can be very dangerous, so it’s a good thing Riv spread the rumor about Bloom. Riv says Stella let the cat out of the bag first, so it’s a good thing no one can trace the rumors back to them.

Stella and Sky wait together for the arrival of the Queen. I need y’all to see what Sky’s hair is doing and explain it to me PLEASE.

Paige: Listen, he didn’t have time for his usual gel and blow-dry routine, we’ve all been there. The more important issue here is just how much they look alike. You can’t tell me they’re NOT siblings!

Jess: This is Love Island hair day 17 when they’re done with pretending.

Mari: He’s gonna meet the Queen; he should’ve pretended a little longer.

Sky is trying to tell Stella it will be okay, because her mom will only be around for half a day. Stella says it will be half a day of everyone adoring her like she’s literally the sun. Sky points out that she IS the Queen of Light, and Stella just glares. The Queen is coming to hold an assembly about the Burned Ones, but Stella thinks she’s really coming to check on her progress. Sky asks if Stella shared any of this with her roommates, who could act as a buffer for her. Stella says she doesn’t need friends, she has Sky. (J: How clingy.) The Queen’s cars pull out, and Stella says she’ll catch up with Sky later. He tells her she can handle this and leaves.

The Queen grandly exits her car, wearing an outfit very similar to Stella’s. The cheek kiss as Queen tells Stella she looks stunning. Stella smiles almost sadly and says, “Hi mum.”

Greenhouse. Harvey appears to be messing with the vial full of smoke he collected in the cold open. Sam and Terra are doing homework. Terra gets up and wanders over to her dad, asking if he needs help. He says he’s got it covered, but she can do some other plant task if she wants. Terra says actually she should get to her homework. Sam, as any annoying brother would I’m sure, says her homework looks pretty done.

They are interrupted when Dane arrives. Both Papa Harvey and Sam glare at him, so clearly they also know about his Fairy-stagram story. Terra tells them to calm down. “Whilst I appreciate that it is the historical perspective of the patriarchy to save women from upsetting situations, I’ve got this.” What a line.

Paige: Terra gets all the best one liners. Also, only the brother is mildly intimidating, but what’s he really gonna do? Disappear through the wall?

Mari: That’ll show him.

Dane says that Terra didn’t answer his text messages. She says she’s been busy. Dane wants to apologize for the video, because Terra was great to him. She agrees that she was, because she’s a good person. And she thinks he might be too, but she doesn’t really care to find out anymore. She leaves him with a word of advice: be careful who you trust. She closes the door on him, effectively pushing him out of the greenhouse. Sam says he still wants to punch the guy, and Terra smiles.

Jess: I feel so cringey after most of her scenes, but I loved this part.

Mari: Agreed. Terra gets really good standing up for herself moments, but at the cost of her always getting herself into the cringiest situations. The cost is too high.

Harvey gets a text from Silva letting him know that the Queen is here. He grabs his smoke vial and tells his kids he’ll see them at the assembly. Still curious, Terra looks over where he was working and the ingredients he left behind.

Harvey and Silva escort the Queen to Dowling’s office. Aisha stands to offer to get the Queen anything she needs. Queen Luna tells her that she’s much more low maintenance than all that. The grown-ups lock themselves in Dowling’s office. When Aisha turns to get back to her desk, she knocks over a bunch of files, and frustratedly slams the file cabinet closed. Then she spots what looks like a bolt kept between the drawers of the cabinet. She looks at it suspiciously, shakes it and then holds it to her ear and lo and behold, it’s a listening device. She can hear Luna asking Dowling about how Callum died. Aisha quickly pushes the listening device back into it’s hiding place.

Later, Aisha fills Bloom in. Callum is dead, but Dowling is telling everyone that he left for a family emergency. Bloom is unsurprised that Dowling is lying. She really wants to go find those old files. Aisha reminds her that the assembly is mandatory, but of course Bloom is going to go off and do something stupid instead. Especially because people are still whispering about and staring at her. Aisha protests, but then is like fine, I’ll tell people you had a migraine.

Jess: Aisha is always stuck being responsible.

Paige: At this point if I was Aisha, I would just let Bloom do her nonsense because she never listens.

Mari: Truly. Stop wasting your breath, Aisha.

Beatrix spots Bloom walking away.

Bloom is back in the abandoned east wing. She opens a creaky door and it suddenly slams shut. It’s a jump scare, but it got me. It’s only Sky, of course, asking what Bloom is up to.

Paige: No the real question is what are YOU up to, sir. A little bit sus, if you ask me.

Jess: He would never.

Mari: Of course he would be sus! Have you seen his hair?

Beatrix is following Bloom. And Riv shows up because he’s obviously following Beatrix. She calls him a clinger, but then is like “come on then” and they head into a restricted area.

Jess: Riv is very much a lost puppy.

Paige: Just like the Barrier Of Suggestion, this Mandatory Assembly apparently is more like a, “maybe attend, if you want to?”

Mari: Optionally Mandatory Assembly. The kids are all milling about until Luna gets up on stage and uses her power to change the lights. Terra says she still can’t believe that’s Stella’s mom. Musa and Sam are sitting next to each other and trying to be sly about texting each other about meeting up later. (P: They are the opposite of subtle.) Terra interrupts by asking Musa to read how Stella is feeling, ’cause she looks miserable. Musa turns her power on (or whatever) but gets a big feelings whiff of Dowling as she walks by instead. Musa tells the roomies that this assembly isn’t just about the Burned Ones. There’s something else going on. We see that Dowling is holding the smoke vial as she walks through the crowd, presumably trying to find a match for the power signature. (J: I guess Musa’s power doesn’t always suck.)

Sky is helping Bloom look through old photos, specifically from 2004 when she was born.

Paige: “I was born in 2004” sent me into a spiral. TWO-THOUSAND-AND? AND?

Mari: Please don’t say that to me. You’re one of my youngest friends.

Sky kind of laughs at her when she describes looking for anyone wearing loose clothes or hiding her stomach, so she tells him that if he’s going to judge, to do so behind her back like everyone else. Sky says they aren’t judging. Bloom is like “yeah, right” and also admits that all the gossiping sucks. Sky tells her that people are “arseholes” and that she just has to find the good ones. They share a significant look before Sky turns to more photos and finds one of Silva, his father, and some other soldiers. Their commander was Rosalind. Bloom notes that Sky looks like his father, and Sky imitates Silva’s accent as he says that one day, if he works hard enough, he might even be half the warrior Papa Sky was. They laugh a little, but then continue sharing orphan feels, and looking deep into each other’s eyes.

Paige: Bonding over dead parents, a rite of passage in all YA fantasy.

Mari: That’s how Beatrix and Riv find them. Beatrix says they aren’t the only ones up to no good.

Back at the Optionally Mandatory Assembly, Musa says that Dowling is feeling anxious, Silva is on high alert, and Harvey is uber-scared. Terra tells them about the magic tracker her father made, which Dowling is now holding. Up on stage, Luna announces that they are tracking 5 Burned Ones throughout Solaria. This causes quite the stir through the assembly as the kids all murmur in surprise.

And back in the East Wing, Riv can’t believe Bloom and Sky are just down here looking at “rubbish.” Beatrix tells him that people who think history is rubbish are rubbish. Riv says that they do at least know that Sky and Bloom were definitely not hooking up, because that would make Sky interesting. Bloom says that they aren’t hooking up, thanks so much. Beatrix points out that an emotional affair is worse.

Riv finds a locked door. Sky knows that Silva is the only one with the key, and offers to ask him about it, but of course Bloom wants to break in right, right now. Beatrix agrees. Bloom asks why the heck these two are even there and why she would accept help from her after what she did to Terra. Beatrix admits that posting the video was extra, but she wasn’t the one who said mean things in the video. And she isn’t the one spreading the rumors about Bloom. Riv says this is not the way he figured he’d be screwed by Beatrix today and walks off, not wanting a lecture from Sky. Sky follows him anyway, leaving the girls alone and together.

Jess: Way to throw that blame around Beatrix.

Paige: Beatrix is the villain, but this move gave her some rights in my book.

Mari: Outside in the rain, Sky basically tells Riv that he’s been even more of a dick ever since he start dating Beatrix. Riv says that Beatrix is the only one who likes him for who he is. Sky asks what that makes him, then. Riv says it makes him a guy who thinks he’s better than him, which is rich, considering Sky’s chasing after Bloom when he has a girlfriend. Sky says that’s not what’s happening, but Riv says that’s what everyone else sees, including Stella, which is probably why Stella told him about Bloom being a changeling in the first place. Sky’s closest friends are truly out to get Bloom lol.

Paige: The way the camera circles them in this entire scene is too much. Dramatic AF, and for what?

Jess: For the angst!!

Mari: The Only 3 teachers are still standing around looking anxious. The roomies are nearby, and Musa tells them that things don’t appear to be going well. Terra can’t believe that they would be hiding some big ulterior motive for the assembly. Musa says that people have all kinds of things going on, especially parents. Her magic pings and she sees Sam, motioning for her to come join him. She tells her roomies she’ll see them back at the suite.

Sam and Musa kiss, and she points out that Terra almost busted them in the assembly. Sam doesn’t care because he wants to go public with their relationship. More public than making out in this busy hallway, I guess. Musa says that she wants to keep it just between them (and everyone in this busy hallway, I guess) because if everyone knows, than she has to feel all of their reactions. Sam says it seems like being an empath kind of sucks. Musa says dating one must suck too, but he tells her it’s worth it.

Paige: The only couple I’m actually rooting for on this whole show at this point.

Jess: But really, who would want that power?!

Mari: Not I. I have enough feelings of my own.

Bloom and Bea are still picking up random pictures in the East Wing, but they’ve found nothing useful but that locked door. Beatrix asks Bloom if she can’t just light it on fire or something. Bloom assures her she’s got enough power to get through that door, but she might light the whole school on fire. Sky texts her to ask if she’s still down in the basement. Bloom lies and says she’s dealing with roommate drama. She turns back to Bea to say maybe she can just fry the hinges, but Bea has already picked the lock. Behind the closed door, they find an old war room with a big round slab in the middle. Beatrix uses her power to turn it on, I guess? And we see a it turn into a map display.

Paige: This is when I began to think—- could they be sisters? They kind of look like siblings, too. Everyone looks like siblings here.

Jess: I cannot handle two of them.

Mari: I love that our prevailing guess is just that everyone is related lol

In Dowling’s office, Dowling is coaching Stella through turning a ball of light into a rainbow.

Stella does it, and she’s very proud of herself. Of course, her mom is on hand to be like “that’s it?” Dowling tells Luna that rehabilitating magic is a process. Luna says she didn’t send her daughter back to Alfea for a process, but because Dowling promised to fix her after the incident with Ricki.

Paige: It’s honestly impressive that the mom is, in fact, worse than Stella.

Mari: Dowling reminds her highness that it was an incident that occurred because Stella’s previous training only focused on results. After a bit of a stare down, Dowling says that they will move on to stronger magic once Stella is ready, but it will take time. Luna says that they don’t have time, considering everything that threatens Solaria. Stella tries to speak up, but her mother tells her not to interrupt. Stella keeps on, though, and shares that she blinded a Burned One. Dowling agrees that she did so with precision and skill. Luna belittles this too, and displays her own power by creating a hallucination, so that Stella seems to be trapped in the forest again. Stella begs her mom to stop, and then they are back in Dowling’s office.

Paige: We were joking about the ring light in episode 1, but then you see what she could potentially be able to do and you’re like, oh baby.

Jess: I would like this power over Musa’s though.

Mari: Luna tells Stella that when you control light, you can control what people see, and appearance is everything. Luna thought Dowling knew that, considering how much she has helped Dowling maintain appearances. Dowling says they’ve both done lots of things to keep up Solaria’s reputation. Dowling tells Stella she’s done a great job and dismisses her.

Outside, Aisha is very obviously look right at Dowling’s office. Aisha asks Stella if she’s okay, and she says of course she is and leaves. Aisha goes back to eavesdropping, just as Luna tells Dowling that she serves at the Queen’s leisure and moods can change.

Sky is working out alone in the Specialist Field. Silva finds him and says he needs an update NOW.

Paige: I’m supposed to believe this string bean is badass punching that bag.

Jess: I actually lol’d.

Mari: Terra finds her dad in the greenhouse, looking real worried while holding his smoke vial. Terra asks him if everything’s okay, and he tells her not now. Terra pushes and asks if this is about the smoke vial, so he snaps at her. He instantly regrets it and says he’s fine. Terra asks if he would tell her if something were going on. He says of course he would.

Back at the suite, Terra tells Musa and Aisha that her father lied to her face. Aisha and Musa say that the adults must think they are doing the right thing. Terra says that’s fine, but her dad could’ve said “I can’t tell you” and not lied to her. Between the three of them, they work out everything that’s happened: smoke vial for detecting magic, Callum dead, adults still worried after assembly, killer obviously not found.

Sky busts into the suite and asks for Bloom. Aisha asks him if Silva filled him in on what was happening at the assembly. Sky is super lost, so they give him the tl;dr: a fairy killed Callum, and it was someone who wasn’t at the assembly. Sky immediately goes BEATRIX because she do be looking like a murderer.

Paige: That she do, and of course it’s the children that figure it out.

Jess: There is no subtlety in Beatrix’s attire.

Mari: And truly, if they had just taken attendance at the Optionally Mandatory Assembly, the adults would’ve figured this out pretty quickly too.

Still in the war room, Bloom is looking over some paperwork that shows that Rosalind was barely at the school in 2004. Beatrix says no duh because that was the year she was leading the crusade against the Burned Ones. Bloom says she just needs to figure out where Rosalind was in December of 2004 because that’s when she was born. Beatrix says that tracks, but Bloom doesn’t ask her to explain this very cryptic reply. Bloom’s phone starts blowing up with texts from her roommates and Sky, but she ignores them because she’s the actual worst. She puts her phone aside and a very shifty looking Beatrix uses the opportunity to use her electricity power to fry it. Bloom finds that Rosalind was in Aster Dell in December. She asks Bea to turn the map on again, but Bea says there’s no need. She knows where Aster Dell is and they could drive there right now. Bloom is like “yeah… no…” because it’s getting late and she barely knows Beatrix. Beatrix is like “well I barely know you.” Yeah girl. That’s the point, not a comeback. But Bloom is an idiot and falls for Beatrix’s manipulation.

Sky bursts into his own room now and demands to know where Beatrix is. Riv laughs it off and says they aren’t surgically attached. Sky says he need to find Bloom and Riv tries to signal for him to shut up, but it’s too late. Stella comes out of the bathroom and is upset that she’s been texting him nonstop and he’s been ignoring her for Bloom. Riv sees himself out. Sky tells Stella that Bloom is either missing or hiding and whichever it is, it’s probably because Stella told everyone she’s a changeling. Stella says she didn’t mean to hurt Bloom, but Sky is over it. He says that Stella treats everyone the same way Luna treats her, and he’s done with her. For real for real.

Bloom is waiting by the side of the road when Beatrix rolls up in a stolen car. One of the Queen’s SUVs. And Bloom just hops in.

Image

Paige: Fun girlie road trip time.

Mari: Casual!

In Dowling’s office, Terra, Musa and Aisha are filling Harvey and Dowling in on the fact that Bloom is missing and Beatrix wasn’t at the assembly. At first, the adults try to play it down, but Terra tells them that they know everything about Callum and the murder. Silva rushes in to say that one of the Queen’s guards got knocked out and his SUV was stolen. Dowling promises the Roomies that they’ll find Bloom.

Beatrix pulls off on the side of mountain road where there is a whole lot of nothing. Bloom is confused about how this could be Aster Dell. Beatrix calls up a bunch of lightening power, and it kinda looks like she might murder Bloom real quick, but in fact, she uses it to pierce a magic veil that is hiding the ruined city of Aster Dell. (P: I really felt the writers going “gotcha!” through the screen.) Bea explains that back in 2004, a bunch of Burned Ones surrounded this place and soldiers from Alfea decided they would destroy the city to get to the Burned Ones. Beatrix knows all of this because she was born here and her family died here. She remembers being scooped up by someone and seeing as Dowling and Silva and Harvey paraded around the town like conquering heroes. And she remembers this because Rosalind was the one who saved her and who burned the memory into her mind. Anyone else getting “idk maybe Rosalind lied to you” vibes?

Bloom is finding this all hard to believe, so Bea asks why they would cover it up if it weren’t true and the magic veil falls back into place.

Paige: Please look at them standing side by side at this moment—THEY LOOK RELATED!

Mari: Sisters! Sisters! Sisters!

On the way back, Bloom is still not sure she can trust Beatrix. Bea says she’ll prove herself trustworthy as they keep looking for answers. Bloom doesn’t think that’s likely since Rosalind is dead. Beatrix says she’s actually just imprisoned, and she’s at Alfea to break her out. We also learned that while Bloom was dropped off in the human world, Beatrix was dropped off with one of Rosalind’s friends.

Paige: I’m sorry but the logic doesn’t add up here– why would Rosalind send one to the human realm and keep one in the fairy world for funsies?

Mari: Just then, some magic arrows pierce their tires and they car skids to a stop. Beatrix runs out of the car, but the road melts (?) so she can’t run away. And Dowling is there to put some magic cuffs on her. Bloom is very upset and confused, but she’s kept away from Bea by Silva and Harvey.

At the school, the Roomies are waiting for Bloom. She gets out of the car and they all hug her. She starts to say that Beatrix isn’t all that bad when they are like “ma’am, she killed Callum.” Of course, they only know this because Dowling and Harvey and Silva said so, and Bloom thinks they are a bunch of liars. Bloom tells the Roomies she’ll see them upstairs and then heads for Sky. He starts apologizing for leaving her with Beatrix, but again Bloom says she isn’t a kidnapper. She’s miSuNDeRstOOd. Sky says either way, he’s happy Bloom is back. Silva calls to Sky, and he hustles over to join him.

The Roomies are heading to their suite, and Musa asks Terra to let her feelings out because they are killing her. Terra is still upset that her father lied to her and acted like it was for her own good. You don’t lie to people you care about.

Paige: The fact that Terra is still so pressed that her dad didn’t tell her what he was up to… family must be into some radical honesty.

Jess: Terra needs to get over it.

Mari: It’s only a thing because of Musa. And indeed, Musa feels called out so she confesses that she’s been dating Sam and didn’t know how to tell Terra. Terra looks concerned for one second but then laughs and hugs Musa. She’s like “whatever, man. Have fun with that.” especially because Sam looks just like their dad, who went bald at 18.

Paige: Ready for him to serve me some James-McAvoy-as-Professor-X.

Jess: hahahah

Mari: Bald Sam would be better than Sky’s hair.

The giggles stop when they see that Stella’s bags are being carried out of the school. They run into their suite only to see that Stella’s room is empty.

Stella is in a car with her mom. Luna assures her daughter that she’ll learn everything she needs at home. Stella says that she could’ve been allowed to at least say goodbye to her friends. Luna says they aren’t her friends.

Silva locks Beatrix into a jail cell. He walks out with Sky on his trail, upset because Silva isn’t being honest with him. Silva told him to get close to Bloom and find out about her, not that Bloom could be in danger. Sky wants the whole truth, but Silva says that part of being a soldier is accepting orders. And these are Sky’s orders: gain Bloom’s trust and learn everything he can about the road trip and report it to Silva because his loyalty is to Silva and Alfea.

Paige: Can’t trust a pretty face.

Mari: Dowling is in her office when Bloom arrives to… I honestly don’t know why Bloom does anything she does. (P: Also she’s literally standing there like🧍🏽‍♀️ ) She wants to know what the cuffs were that Dowling used on Beatrix. Dowling says they prevent a fairy from using magic. Bloom says they were barbaric. Dowling asks if Bloom is okay, and what they did for all those hours. Bloom lies and says it was just a joy ride. Dowling tells her that maybe next time she should be smarter about who she picks for company. Bloom says she definitely will be and stomps out.

Jess: Bloom makes it hard to cheer for her.

Mari: Truly. What was even the point of that?

Dowling picks up her phone and calls Bloom’s mother. She says that Bloom has been having a hard time adjusting to life at Alfea, and wonders if Bloom has mentioned anything. Mom presumably says no, and Dowling tells her to feel free to call if Bloom mentions anything out of the ordinary. Dowling ominously says that she’s well-versed in handling these sorts of situations.

Jess: Ooooooo, how diabolical.

Mari: This show is working overtime to convince me that the 3 teacher at Alfea are evil, but I don’t buy it. I’m gonna say the woman imprisoned in the basement and burning memories into baby brains is the real evil one here. Along with Beatrix, mostly based on the fact that we certainly watched her MURDER SOMEONE.

Paige: Honestly, everyone’s sus (and related! I’m telling you!) and I don’t know how they’re going to wrap up all these threads with only two more episodes. Also someone get Terra some of those weed brownies from the party episode, she needs them.

Jess: Hot Daddy Professor would never! I’ve had enough of Beatrix. Keep those cuffs on and give me more adult teacher time is my thoughts.

Mari: I think that means you are old. Just saying.

Next time on Fate: The Winx Saga: Dowling shares some of her backstory in S01 E05 – Wither Into the Truth.
