Snark Squad Pod #022 – A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin

Previously: We watched another Star Wars movie and found that we still knew nothing (Jon Snow), but we had help from an actual Star Wars fan to correct us.

Sweeney: Hello friends, we are back again with another installment of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. This is a week later than it should have been, thanks to how I got behind on life and we missed a week. Probably nobody but me cares, but these are supposed to come out the first week of every other month. And I care in case you’ve decided to be a real masochist and read along with us on this journey. (Also, if you’re reading along, you should sign up for our newsletter below so that you can join our Discord and chat about it there!)

Anyway, we are joined again by Snark Lady and expert of the Seven Kingdoms, the lands beyond the narrow sea, and grand prophetic visions Democracy Diva. You can find her on Twitter, her hilarious fashion blog, or, you know, elsewhere on this very site.

Hear all the things we loved and hated and some wonderful insight from Marines about how the personal experience of reading shapes how we view a story:

And finally, our media mentioned list:

Nicole Sweeney (all posts)

Nicole is the co-captain of Snark Squad and these days she spends most of her time editing podcasts. She spends too much time on Twitter and very occasionally vlogs and blogs. In her day job she's a producer, editor, director, and sometimes host of educational YouTube channels. She loves travel, maps, panda gifs, and semicolons. Writing biographies stresses her out; she crowd sourced this one years ago and has been using a version of it ever since. She would like to thank Twitter for their help.
