Snark Squad Pod #038 – Maniac

Previously: Someone asked us to watch The Meg and exceeded our very low expectations.

Sweeney: Producing this podcast is a crapshoot sometimes. We try to record every Sunday evening, and try to stay at least a week ahead of uploads. When planning our schedule and picking media for our September 23rd recording we noticed that a Netflix show starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill was coming out that weekend and thought “That sounds like something people might watch and talk about” and so we put it on the calendar.

As much as we love our media to be thoughtful and as much as we try for our creation of this podcast to be thoughtful, every now and then it comes down to simple logistics.

I tell you this mostly to say that when we sat down to watch the Cary Fukunaga directed Netflix miniseries Maniac we truly had no idea what were in for. We put this on our list before there was even a proper trailer. As it turns out, this series was a bizarre, trippy delight. I’m not sure we could have prepared for it much anyway.

We asked my dear friend and go-to CONTENT PAL Silvia Roma who has nothing to plug here, but you should follow her on Twitter because she’s a gem.

Find out what we thought of this wild ride of a show on this week’s podcast episode:

Nicole Sweeney (all posts)

Nicole is the co-captain of Snark Squad and these days she spends most of her time editing podcasts. She spends too much time on Twitter and very occasionally vlogs and blogs. In her day job she's a producer, editor, director, and sometimes host of educational YouTube channels. She loves travel, maps, panda gifs, and semicolons. Writing biographies stresses her out; she crowd sourced this one years ago and has been using a version of it ever since. She would like to thank Twitter for their help.
