The More You Know November 2014 – Made for holidays.

Dear Traumateers,

Marines: Happy Thanksgiving!

First thing’s first, you should know that the blog will be on Thanksgiving break from November 27-30th. I think that even those on the team who don’t celebrate this American holiday are looking forward to some downtime. The rest of us are really excited about family time and food. Mmmm, food. We’ll be back in full force, and probably a couple pounds heavier, on December 1st.

Sweeney: This is such a magical holiday. Every holiday that’s about to happen / is happening is always my favorite. Always and forever. I am always and forever thankful for the opportunity to stuff my face with food glorious food. Also for opportunities to sleep.

Mari: Snark Ladies were made for holidays.

Out of curiosity, I went back and looked at November TMYKs of years past. In 2012, I wrote about busy HR times, and a basic schedule of eat/sleep/work/snark. Sweeney told us about getting a new job and how much we email each other. ALL OF THIS IS TRUE AGAIN/STILL!

Sweeney: LOL. Womp. Here’s to hoping I will not be reporting any new jobs for a while. And that you acquire some underlings to mitigate your busy HR times.

Mari: It’s  no reason to womp, really. Back then it was a sweet second job to help with a move and this time it’s a sweet dream job for which you are moving. I mean, underlings would be nice, but HOORAY GAINFUL EMPLOYMENT!

One of the best things about these years of recapping under our belt is having this kind of history to refer back to. It really feels like we’ve built something out of thousands of thousands of snarky words. Tied to that, and things are about to get mushy here, we’ve got this great community of people to share it all with. I’m first super thankful to the ladies who make this all happen, dedicating and donating a bunch of their time, just because we like to watch TV and be snarky about it. I’m so excited that we grew our team this year and it’s amazing how naturally we all work together. So, from Sweeney and I both, thank you Democracy Diva, Kirsti, Sara, Alex, Stephanie, and Anna May. Sweeney and I could probably never repay you, unless one or both of us marry rich, I guess?

Sweeney: OR IF WE WIN THE LOTTERY! We discussed winning the lottery when we went to New York and both of us put, “Paying for this blog” near the top of our lists. Like, pay off debts and quit our jobs and then doing this blog all the time always. What I’m saying is that we really do love you guys a lot.

Mari: Our team and our readers. Thank you to all of our readers. I never get over the idea that people read our stuff. But you guys are way more awesome than just that because you watch along with us, have the best comments of all time, are smart and funny and cordial and respectful and give really good gifs. Thank you guys for being part of this crazy, mixed up family.

Sweeney: I think often of how much this blog has affected me and a huge part of that is in hearing from all of you. You are all such a fantastically thoughtful, engaged group of humans and I am so thankful that you willingly offer us a share of your time and attention.

Mari: Thankfulness expressed, recaps and announcements:

Last Month:

On Doctor Who, the Doctor takes Adam along into a future where the news is evil or something. Rose wants to go back to the day her father died and that goes as badly as you’d imagine. The Doctor and Rose chase a piece of space junk and find a creepy child, a hunky time agent and also WWII. Turns out Jack’s indirectly responsible for the Empty People but a couple snaps of the finger and some family love and everything is a-okay.

On Dollhouse, Adelle and co. let the important dolls fulfill their pressing desires. An Echo-imprint helps identify Dominic as a spy, all while Adelle is having alone time with a Victor-imprint. A recently dead woman’s memories get imprinted into Echo so that she can solve her own murder. Paul breaks into the Dollhouse to rescue only Echo, but it’s Alpha who walks out the door with the girl.

On How to Get Away with Murder, Asher finds out his dad isn’t as upright as he thought and Annalise yells in a court room, entirely way too much. Boring Wes and Stupid Rebecca finally hook up and Annalise finds out Lila was pregnant. Sam confesses to Bonnie that he knew that all along and Bonnie gets fired for sharing that with Annalise.

On Gotham, everyone finds out that Penguin is alive, so Gordon thinks up an irrational master plan that’s foiled by his irrational girlfriend. Gordon has to fight for his life in an accountant fight club and proves he can be a PD of one. Gordon meets Harvey Dent and it’s almost like he’s got two personalities!

On Dawson’s Creek, Jen and Jack became brOTP roomies. Papa Potter gets taken off to jail again and Joey dumps Dawson to many cheers. There are many more cheers for finishing a thing and Diva and Kirsti ranked the season two episodes. Season three starts off with Dawson meeting a girl on a bus and Jen trying out for the cheerleading squad.

On Supernatural, Dean goes undercover on a movie set and finds he doesn’t hate being a PA. The boys investigate some suspicious heart attacks in prison. Dean falls prey to a genie and his wishes are super feelsy. In the first part of the season two finale, Sam dies. In the second part, Dean makes a demon deal to get him back and they take on the Yellow Eyed Demon. Kirsti wraps up season two by ranking the episodes. Anna May Fox joins the Supernatural recaps as we start season three, in which the Winchesters travel to Nebraska and something, something about the seven deadly sins.

On Veronica Mars, our girl investigates another dog case that leads her to Liam Fitzpatrick and Cordelia, of all people. Logan drunkenly confesses his epic feels for Veronica and then doesn’t really remember it the next day. Woody Goodman is a statutory rapist and Aaron Echolls is not guilty.

Meanwhile in Rosewood, WE LEARNED THINGS FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER and Ezra is a confirmed mega-creep. In a maybe Halloween episode, the girls run all around Ravesnwood and see Alison for five seconds. The girls think another missing girl is buried in Ali’s box, but she isn’t. Creepy Ezra lures the girls to his pedolodge so that he can steal back Ali’s diary. Ali sets up a meeting with Emily but Spencer shows up and scares her away.

After much witching in public, the Halliwells are finally discovered, first by a reporter and then by Andy. Piper goes to Hawaii so Prue and Phoebe are left to fight a ghost who escapes from Alcatraz. Piper takes on Leo’s powers to heal him with her love, all so he can run away again to do faux-angel stuff. The Halliwells are stuck in a time loop and they almost all die, and it’s still worse for us than it is for them. Stephanie joins the recapping line-up in time for the start of season two in which we are reminded of all the things we forgot about season one.

And in another round of lovely, The OC guest posts, Miss Angi covers the arrival of Olivia Wilde’s ex-girlfriend, who is also a girl. Klutzy Ballerina recaps Marissa and Alex’s road trip to recover an ugly necklace. We welcomed Tom back and he covered Caleb’s very dramatic heart attack probably caused a little bit by Ryan. Jessica got stuck with the Valentine’s episode, in which we are extremely disappointed in Sandy Cohen.

Coming Up:

We took on an insane amount the second half of this year and as we sat down to plan 2015 (like the dorks that we are) our #1 priority was making sure that everyone involved with this project had a manageable recap load. That meant us, too. With that in mind, we’re announcing the addition of another Snark Lady!

Please welcome Jessica (@antiscian)! Starting in December, she’ll be joining us on the Pretty Little Liars recaps. (Sara is really busy raising a baby. We hope to see her around on a couple of projects in 2015, but for the time being, you know: tiny human.)

We’re super happy to have her on the blog! She’ll be joining us on one other show as well but that announcement, and perhaps a few other 2015-themed-ones will have to wait until next month.

Welcome, Questionable New Friends!

I’ve got two this month because one is about me and I don’t want to seem that self-involved. First though:

did spencer hastings go blind

…no? Granted, we aren’t up to date but through half of season 4, no. If you’re asking because she never seems to see what’s right in front of her, I FEEL YOU FRIEND. WELCOME.

And next:

why did lorraine quit snark squad?

I DIDN’T. I PROMISE. We barely addressed this on the site, so it’s kind of worth repeating, especially for these confused web searchers: when I started blogging, I did so under the pen name Lorraine. A few weeks ago, I dropped the pen name, changed my personal blog’s URL and Twitter handle and became myself. So, the pseudonym is gone, but I swear Lorraine = Marines and she isn’t missing and there was no major dramz on the website or anything.

Sweeney: THIS IS AMAZING. I AM DYING.

Mari: I absolutely had the same reaction and even went as far as trying to explain to my co-worker why I was cracking up at my screen.

Anyway, welcome new friends!

And we hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.
