Sweeney: Once upon a time, this podcast made its way through the MCU. At that time Mari – and many of you – asked about taking on the DCEU. At the time I said, “Absolutely not.” But the world has changed since then, namely: nothing matters and I have forgotten how to love myself. So on some random day late last year I was like “ok I’m ready.” And here we are.
There is no actual good reason why we are doing this now, though we did kind of get lucky and stumble into a good reason: our Justice League episode will be going up the Monday before the Snyder cut is released. I could lie to you all and say we planned it this way, but this was really just a happy accident. (Save for the slight tweak to our upload schedule once we realized we had this happy accident.) I’ll also add that we have already recorded our Justice League episode but we do plan to do a follow-up live show to discuss the Snyder cut on our YouTube channel on Saturday, March 20th at 2:00pm ET.
Since we don’t have “phases” to follow like we did with the MCU, we broke this project down into 3 parts:
- Part 1: Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman
- Part 2: Justice League
- Part 3: Aquaman, Shazam!, Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman 1984
We also needed to assemble a team to join us on this adventure, so we we asked our friends Sam & Jessica to return to the podcast. Sam has not only been a guest on many episodes of this podcast, but he and I talked about 3 of the DC movies on our friend Nick’s old podcast Reel Bad.
